Nach dem endgültigen Sieg über die Türken, wurde zur großen Zeit des Barocks. Die Vorstädte wurden wieder aufgebaut und der Adel errichtete Paläste. Nach 1857 begann die Ringstraßenära, die auch heute noch das Stadtbild prägt. Im Industriezeitalter wurde Wien zu einer modernen Großstadt. Hier gab es so viele Völker, Rassen und Konfessionen wie sonst nirgends auf der Welt.Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg begann der Abstieg der Weltmetropole. Der Zweite Weltkrieg und die Besatzungszeit hinterließen tiefe Wunden.
