UD-9A Chief Hicks, arrived o/s to heavy fire from a 4th floor apt. He requested the 2nd alarm reporting he had numerous people out on balconies. Ladder companies went to work rescuing trapped tennants from 4th floor windows and balconies, while engine crews stretched line up the fire tower to the fire apt. Tower-74 took the roof and opened up. Fire got into the roof area over the apartment involved. Crews did an excellent job with all they had on their hands. The 3rd alarm was struck bringing the remaining Upper Darby apparatus to the scene for manpower. The EMS casualty box was also struck for possible injuries with the number of people trapped. 4 victims were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
