The assignment was upgraded to the working fire at 23:31 and a 2nd alarm at 23:38. 04-9 had a 2 story twin dwelling well involved with heavy extension to the "D" exposure. Crews lead off with nmumerous handlines from the exterior. An attempt was made at an interior attack on the exposure, but crews were backed out due to deteriorating bldg conditions. Companies then went to deluge guns and a Ladder pipe for the remainder of the fire fight. Tower-05 was special called to access some hard to hit hot spots. Companies were on scene for more than 3-1/2 hours.
