Greetings!
Funny :) You see the fence. I was sickened by the yellow caution tape. lol. You make an excellent suggestion. Honestly this was my first attempt at action photography and aside from holding her steady, I let the camera make all of the decisions. The fence is unavoidable due to the dangerous nature of the event so eliminating it in future shots is out of the question. An f1 setting would certainly remove some of the harshness and I will absolutely take your advice next year and see how it turns out. I fear it will still be pretty busy back there though :) While examining this photo today, another option came to mind. Why not lift the blue penalty bar and athlete from the photo, return to the scene and reshoot the background without the fence, (and yes perhaps even with a lower aperture setting), and plop the subject back in the new background. With the exception of the hammer, it doesn't look like he would be too hard to lift. The outlines are pretty clear in the subject. I've had PS Elements for about a year now and I've only scratched the surface. I really need to start taking advantage of the program. lol
Thank you so much for the insight/suggestion. Constructive ideas are always welcome on this end :)
With warmest regard,
Christopher

Thanks NYC for your kind words in my GB. I am always seeking to experience new things and explore ways to better my skill and education. I would Love to get exposure in a city shoot, I don't get the chance to make up there much. In fact I seldom get the chance to venture out here in DC much as I seem to be always working!!!!!

Yeah, the geo-tagging map on fotki seems to record only albums, I've tried individual shots and if you click on the small blue globe next to the image title, it will show it co-ords. But I am off to read your blog, it sounds interesting and you can be sure I will ask many questions on that and your wonderful images!

Thanks again.

Cheers!

Tom
