Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is one of the most beautiful harbors in the world and the most visited port in the Caribbean. It located in the center of the island and on the South shore. Elegant dining,(lambie is a must) exciting nightlife (steel band combos), and duty-free shopping are abundant in Charlotte Amalie. Also do not forget the liquor tasting. Rum from all over the Caribbean can be tried. The city's reputation as the shopping mecca of the Caribbean draws visitors from all over the region and around the world. Charlotte Amalie is simply awesome and full of energy. St. Thomas is a mountainous island. It offers stunning views in almost every direction.The people there are lovely. As you may be aware many St Thomians emigrated to Haiti during the reign of President Geffrard (1859- 1867) My paternal great grand mother moved to Haiti with her 2 sons( my grand father) from that island in 1866.
