Hello Pat.
I'm Sam Sessions fro South Paris Maine
I just punched in Junior Hanley on google and your site popped up.
I ran a couple of Junior's cars as hand me downs. We ran at Oxford Plains, and then went touring with NEPSA and PASS Junior is my hero and although I never bought anything from him I called him a few times and he was a big help. We won the first PASS championship with a ten year old Hanley car. Then I bought Jeff Hanley's Late model chassis and built it into a Pro stock. We had a lot of fun and success. We won the $100,000.00 to win Big Dawg race at Wiscasset raceway in Maine. I don't race much any more but we sure had a lot of fun with those Junior cars.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for writing!
The Hanley cars helped LOTS of guys win over the years.... I see you hit 'The Big One' in Maine. Congrats!!

ANY pics of your cars you would care to share?

Pat

I remember riding into the station in St. Thomas in the 60's from where we lived up north. We came to visit my grandparents and other family.

We love the train museum and have taken our son to Day out with Thomas both there and at the arena last year. When is your museum gala this year, in August? Is the train ride to Port Stanley still running?

Keep up the great work...Geordie loves the pix in the slide show.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a great place. Thanks for the compliments!
August 23/24 weekend.

http://www.ecrm5700.org/

-P

Pat:

Thanks for posting those 2 pics. I have been going through the old Checker Flag stuff, its amazing how crude everything was back then, yet it still provided top notch entertainment for the fans. I had left Windsor by the late 80's, what exactly was the reason for the closing of Checker Flag? Also, are you going to be at the next reunion, I might make a trip up for it.

Peter Hobbs #84
Atlanta, GA

Hi there.
Just happened upon your website. I am Phil Zampino's daughter. it was great to see a photo of him racing. It has been a long time. He was profiled in a 1965 Pinecrest program where they had mentioned my upcoming birth. I do believe when I was born they announced it at the track. Good ole devoted Flying Phil. I also remember he won the feature race on June 26,1975 as it was my 10th birthday. It was my birthday cake wish for him to win that night. I wish he would of continued longer as I was young and loved going to the races every sat. night. it is good to see someone came up with a good old race site.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for checking in !!....................Pat

Pat:

Great to see some of the Checker Flag pictures. I raced there, well I showed up and followed the leaders in 1980 and 1982 in the #84 Street Stock which was then neutered into the Factory Stock by the promoter. Lots of fond memories of late nights in the pits. I will dust off an old picture or two and send them along to you soon.
------------------------------------------------------------

Glad you found the pics! Please send what you can...............Pat

Great Photo albums, I looked at over a thousand 1980's race car photos last night. It really brought back memories. I live in Michigan, Grand Rapids area and have several pictures also but no where near as many as you. I am buildind a 1980's Jr. Hanley model again. I built one in the 80's but I didn't know all the tips to keep it from falling apart. This one should stand the test of time. My Fotki home is Greengo. Chenck out my models if your interested.

Again Great Pictures and models, Steve

Rick French

My name is Rick French and I was in the Air Force for 24 years. During that time my job was to help maintain approx. 100,000 miles of Minuteman Missile Hardened Intersite Cable System (HICS) that is buried across the landscape in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota and Missouri. In order to accomplish this we drove Dodge W300 trucks with utility beds on most of them, across all types of terrain.

What spurred this note is that a large group of the HICS personnel are getting together again in Great Falls, Montana in August 2008 for our third Reunion. A number of years ago in preparation for our first reunion, I stumbled across a web site where the individual drew greeting cards with a 1964 W300 Dodge on them, they were pretty cool and would have made a good door prize at our Reunion. At the time I couldn’t afford them, and have since lost track of the site.

I have decided to build/have built one of the trucks, which will be given as a door prize for our Reunion. I have acquired the 1968 W300 Dodge from Tom Coolidge, the Utility Bed from Modelhaus. The donor kits are the Little Red Express, 4X4 Conversion for the LRE and a Ford C-600 Stake Truck.

I was wondering if you could provide some directions for the construction of the frame. Also, if you could provide some guidance on where to acquire a winch and brushguard.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Sincerely, Rick

Rick French
3403 West Princeton Avenue
Spokane, WA 99205
509-325-7489
509-435-5839
rd_draft@comcast.net
Hi Pat:

I'm looking for any pictures of my Dad (Lorne Armstrong) from Pinecrest Speedway. He started when the track first opened as the assistant starter and soon became the safety tech guy. He worked there until about 1967 (that is a wild guess) It was the year Norm Smith sold the track.

Thanks.
P.S -- HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Marilyn
