Hallo Heike... habe mir heute Deine Fotos hier angesehen, ich bin restlos begeistert. Sehr klare und wunderschöne Aufnahmen. Ich habe leider keine DigiCam um derart pantastische Bilder zu machen. Ich würde Dich gern um Erlaubnis bitte ein ganz bestimmtes Foto unter Deinem Copy natürlich, verwenden zu dürfen. Es ist die Biene IMG_5471. It's me again........yeah, dichotomous keys are available for just about everything. Unfortunately, insect keys are usually oriented toward the larvae rather than the adults. I suggest you check with an entomologist at a university. They are usually the best source to find what you are looking for. He/she may even have a graduate student working on adult identification keys. Wouldn't hurt to check......and it helps to have a good stereoscope as well for looking at details. Often, the diference between one species and another is the number of "hairs" on a section of abdomen or leg. lol Good luck.

G'd day Heike......beautiful little butterfly. I'm afraid I don't know a lot about European Lepidoptera. I can work a dichotomous key, however, but that requires that I have the specimen right in front of me for observation. If you can find this critter again, you can recognize the Family for sure; the females have two claws on the forelegs. A simple hand lens is sufficient to make this observation. Stateside, we know the F-Lycaenidae as Gossamer-winged Butterflies. Sorry I can't be of much help.....closeup observation is really necessary for positive ID.

Sorry for being late with the answer to the question what it is or my entry for particular fotki contest. This is really sand in different colours. Heike, come on, of course I read all the books already :), 2 days after official relase I was done with the 7th part :), so now...tell me :)

..and btw, I'm not artistic, just love to lay down in the grass and take some pictures, there are always some nice shots afterwards :) ... and these stones with with crystals on it...these are stones in the Dead Sea in Israel border with Jordan, check in the Israel album, Dead Sea is amazing, solty like crazy but cooool :)
