I too had the Ford stuck to me! I have a used (bought from a mechanic) 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis that cracked and blew coolant into the alternator. I saved about $1000.00 by doing the repairs myself. In forty years of driving I have never had this problem until plastic and Ford did it to me. I never was a Ford fan. My wife talked me into this junker. Why do they call them fix or repair daily? The 1971 Maverick my wife talked me into was a lemon too. Never another Ford. Divorce first.

We just found out that Ford had a recall on our 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis's plastic intake manifold and that we had missed the cutoff date of March 16th. We had complained about the cracked manifold about 2 years ago. Being the orginal purchaser, we should have been notified. The manifold cracked beside the brass nipple that was molded into the plastic for the heater hose to connect. My husband put J.B. weld on the brass nipple and replased it inside and in the crack on the outside. He sawed the fin beside the plastic nodule that held the brass nipple and installed a hose clamp. We have driven the car for over 10,000 miles. We purchased a new 2006 Grand Marquis and made sure to purchase the 75,000 mile extended warranty. The service manager stated that Ford would not have replaced this manifold because it wasn't cracked behind the alternator. Here's to J.B. weld and my middle finger to Ford.

I just had to have my intake manifold on my 1996 Merdury Grand Marquis replaced at a cost of $909.63. Why did I never receive a recall letter to inform me of the problem?

We received the class action settlement notice for our 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. We just had the intake manifold replaced prior to receiving notice. From our reading of the notice our vehicle is only covered if it was within the 7 years after it was first sold. Is this correct?

I've given up on Ford and the cars they produce. Lets see how the Infiniti FX35 holds up to the rigors of L.A. traffic. I'll leave the Ford recall albums online indefinitely.

We have just found out about this faulty plastic maniford problem, especially since mine just cracked. Glad to have found all of this info before I call the dealer. Will it help? Has anyone had any luck out there?
