There's nothing like sitting down in the dimmly lit shack on a cold Winters night watching QRSS dit's & dah's slowly scroll across the screen. If the weather calls for rain, the event will be pushed to the next day; Sunday, November 16th at the same time (this happened).

We will walk over to Calico Rock, and then we will walk to the overlook above the Point-of-Rocks RR Tunnel to get a closer look at the Catoctin Formation and the view of the Potomac River valley. If we have enough time we will walk along the towpath up to the Catoctin RR Tunnel at milepost 50 to view another spectacular rock formation. For further information go to

and modified 1 year ago In either 1981 or 1982, SEALOG sponsored a trip to the USS Iowa. During this trip, I took over 50 pictures. About 12 years ago I gave some of the pictures to ASNE. The remainder I misplaced ... I thought that they were gone forever. Recently while cleaning out our attic, I came across an old yellow box chock full of photographic negatives. What you see here are part of them. These have been sitting in an unfriendly environment for over 22 years with temperatures ranging from 125 degrees in the Summer down to the single digits in the Winter. All in all however, they survived fairly well.
